TIL about Charlie Faust, who joined the New York Giants in 1911 after a fortuneteller said he'd lead them to the World Series, though he was no athlete. The Giants won the pennant that year and started 54-11 in 1912 before releasing Faust, who was later diagnosed with dementia and died in 1915.
