TIL James Cameron almost directed the original "Jurassic Park", ultimately losing the rights to Steven Spielberg by a matter of hours. Cameron's version would have been darker, like "Aliens with dinosaurs," but after seeing the film he decided that Spielberg was the correct choice to direct.
