TIL the deepest hole humans have dug is known as the Kola Superdeep Borehole in the far northwest of Russia. It is 40,230ft deep (12.2km). The locals say that can hear the screams of souls tortured in hell. It took the Soviets 20 years before the end of The Cold War scrapped the project.
