TIL the origin of Backslash in MS Windows. Unix introduced in '70 the forward slash as its directory separator. In '81 MS-DOS 1.0 didn’t support directories at all and already were using "/" as switch operator, hence the DOS 2 had to chose the "\" as the only viable to keep compatibility.
