TIL in September 1968, Russian cosmonauts fooled NASA into thinking they were landing on the moon using radio relays from Zond 5, the first spacecraft to orbit the moon. The cosmonauts knew they would never make it to the moon so they decided to engage in “a little bit of hooliganism.”
