TIL about Supreme Court Judge Joseph Force Crater, who became the "missingest man in New York," when he disappeared on the streets of Manhattan in 1930. On the day he destroyed several documents, shifted portfolios to his 5th Ave apartment and withdrew $5000. He was declared legally dead in 1939.
