TIL Diogo Alves committed the famous “Aqueduct Murders” 1836-1840 and was the penultimate person to be hanged in Portugal. Scientists wanted to study the brain of a serial killer and so preserved his head in a glass vessel. It is still viewed today in the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Medicine.
