TIL during WWII, the Nazis harvested hair from concentration camp inmates and used it to make blankets and socks for U-boat crews. A car company also allegedly used the hair from 40,000 Auschwitz inmates to make textiles. Polish historians claim to have found 1.95 tonnes of the hair-cloth.
