TIL the scale created by Celsius had 0°C as boiling point, 100°C as the freezing point of water. Jean-Pierre Christin invented what we now know as the Celsius scale and named it Centigrade. About 200 years after their deaths, Centigrade was renamed to Celsius to honor the man who didn't invent it.
