TIL that in 2019 a 73 y.o. patient died as a result of receiving a fecal transplant. Massachusetts General Hospital later confirmed that the donor's stool (poop) contained E.coli bacteria. Checks for E.coli had begun earlier in 2019 but were not applied to existing stool donations in frozen storage.
