TIL that Ferdie Pacheco was both Muhammad Ali’s doctor and his cornerman. In 1977, Pacheco noted that Ali got poor results in a series of physical reflex tests and advised him to retire from boxing. When Ali ignored this, Pacheco quit Ali’s team, no longer feeling confident with Ali’s condition.
