TIL of the 1940 Armistice Day Blizzard. Unseasonably warm temperatures of 65°F in mid-November were followed by one of the worst blizzards in Midwest history which created drifts more than 20 feet high. The blizzard ultimately killed more than 150 people and allegedly 1.5 million turkeys.
