TIL that there's a Polish village called Polonezköy in Istanbul, Turkey. It was inspired and funded by Prince Adam Jerzy Czartoryski and settled in 1842 by a small group of Polish emigrės, after the failed November Uprising. There is still a Polish community there with its own church and cemetery.

9wb8M TIL that the oldest edible honey was found in a tomb in the country of Georgia, in 2003 while excavating for an oil pipeline. Originally sealed in 3500BC, the honey is 5,500 years old and may also have had medicinal value. Georgia may also have housed the first winemakers.

After he died Byron wrote the poem "Epitaph to a Dog" in his honour. His wish to be buried with Boatswain was denied. The dog's tomb is larger than Byron's.
