TIL the reason why Armstrong was the first man on the moon and not Aldrin was that the Eagle's hatch opened to one side, and it was towards the pilot, Aldrin. When the hatch was opened, the commander, Armstrong, had a clear path to exit, while the pilot was pinned in the cramped space of the module.
