TIL a study showed evidence that postmenopausal orcas protect their sons from fighting other orcas, while similar behavior was not observed towards their daughters. Analysis of nearly 7K pics taken over almost 50 yrs, concluded the effect of fewer socially inflicted scars only existed on their sons.
