TIL In 1919, Fritz Pollard became one of the first African-Americans to play in the NFL.One year¹ after making his debut,Fritz led his Akron Pros to their first ever NFL championship.The next year,Pollard became a player-coach with the same team and in effect became the NFL's first black head coach.
