TIL the octopus stinkhorn, or devil's fingers, is a non-poisonous fungus found all over the world. The starfish-shaped fruiting body emerges vertically and spreads out, making the gleba accessible to insects which facilitate the distribution of spores. Mature stinkhorns smell like rotting flesh.
