TIL the sunbittern, native to Central and South America, generally has a subdued brownish coloration while feeding. When alarmed, however, it displays its exceptional chestnut, black, and buff-yellow eyespots on the dorsal side of its wings and its colorful tail, which it uses in defensive displays.

TIL the great argus is a species of pheasant from SE Asia. The male performs a very ostentatious mating ritual, sometimes humorously called "pick-a-card." Linnaeus named the bird owing to its intricate eye-like patterns on its wings, in reference to Argus, a 100-eyed character from Greek mythology.
