96-Year-Old Woman Graduates from US College With 100% Grade, Sets Outstanding Record

When Violet Edwards obtained her undergraduate diploma from Mercy College in New York, United States, she broke the record for the oldest African-American woman ever.

After earning her degree from Mercy College in New York, Violet Edwards, now 96 years old, has been hailed as extraordinary in the United States.

People who heard about Violet Edwards’ accomplishments remembered them. In addition, she graduated from college at the fifth-oldest age in the world and is the oldest person in Florida, the United States, to get a degree.

Violet Edwards, a talented performer, was the youngest child in her family, a voracious reader, and a stellar student from a Jamaican background. She was the first kid in her town to be accepted into Happy Grove High School, Jamaica, with a full academic scholarship. She was born in 1925.

When Violet Edwards applied for the Caribbean Secondary Study Certificate necessary to continue her education during World War II, she passed it elegantly.

It was a stressful time for her, and there were worries that the ship carrying her exam would become a war victim because the paperwork (the examinations) had to be moved to England for grading. However, her exam arrived safely in England, and she passed.

After that, in the first decade of the 1980s, she enrolled at the College of New Rochelle in New York, USA. Her finances, however, were unable to handle because these were difficult times for her. Due to these financial difficulties, Violet Edwards resigned from the College of New Rochelle, New York, in the United States and began working in Jamaica. She had a successful career in Jamaica’s labor market. She was the first female regional inspector appointed by the Jamaica Postal Service.

She prioritized her family while focusing on her job since she liked working in the medical field, ensuring that her daughter attended medical school. Her current daughter, The Florida Perinatal Center, LLC, in the United States, has appointed Dr. Christine Edwards as its medical director.

She enrolled in various online courses that required her to utilize a computer, the internet, and a smartphone after being approved as a transfer student by Mercy College in New York, United States. She then encountered a new obstacle: she could only transfer 84 of the credits she had previously obtained at the College of New Rochelle in New York; thus, she was forced to settle for an Associate of Science degree.

Violet Edwards believed that technology had advanced. Everything was on pad paper and pencil, and she recalled how she adjusted to her online lessons. Though I can’t say I’ve loved it, I’m still following along. Thankfully, though, she had support from her daughter and son-in-law. They were reliable in supporting her older age-related schooling and stability. They assisted her in resolving any problems, and they kept her going. It wasn’t easy, but she estimated I managed to get through it. She said, “I wouldn’t give up.

She graduated with the highest honors from Mercy College and had a successful academic career, earning a GPA of 4.0/4.0.

Since Violet Edwards was getting older and had been diagnosed with cancer just before her senior year of college, she had to deal with health issues while studying.

Despite the odds, Violet Edwards underwent surgery and finished her last round of radiation therapy, according to Local 10.

She earned her degree from a US college with a perfect grade point average.
